šŸˆ NFL Stars and Their Podcast Popularity

ICYMI, the NFL season kicked off last night with the Kansas City Chiefs defeating the Baltimore Ravens.

Historically, NFL stars didnā€™t have as much public popularity compared to stars from helmet-less sports like basketball or baseball.

That started to change as fantasy football and sports wagering went mainstream.

But the NFL and its stars reached ā€œnew heightsā€ last year as Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce cozied up with international superstar Taylor Swift.

So to commemorate kick off and capitalize on the cultural zeitgeist, we asked:

Which NFL stars have the most pull in podcasts?

First, we used the NFLPAā€™s official jersey sales numbers between March 2023 and February 2024 to identify the Top 10 most popular players.

Next, we used Podchaser Proā€™s monitoring feature to find total mentions of each of the Top 10 by player name.

Then, we aggregated the reach of these mentions.

Finally, we calculated the average reach per mention.

So whatā€™d the data tell us?

Most Mentions: Aaron Rodgers, Quarterback, New York Jets

Highest Reach of Mentions: Aaron Rodgers, Quarterback, New York Jets

Highest Average Reach of Mentions: Travis Kelce, Tight End, Kansas City Chiefs

Swifties rejoice! Your girlā€™s mans is top dog (in the metric that matters).
